If you type a lower-case ASCII charactor from a limited set (dhlmoqrwz), several lines of formatted ASCII numbers are sent from the scanner. I've never had the computer try to install a new driver in the many times I've disconnected the scanner and reconnected it, (except on the original install). fxdscon. There were some users that were seeing the keypad lock on the SDS100 actually functioning through the Sentinel software in the early versions.
